Biography:

George Tournas began his working career at W&S Grinding Machine Division, Worcester, MA. After completing a two year apprenticeship of machine tool building and field service maintenance, he was promoted to field service engineer in the Chicago, IL office.

Over the next 30 years his work experience included positions at Control Gage Inc. and Sheffield Measurement; National Sales Manager at Ecotech Machine Tools; and Regional Sales Manager at Gage All Sales.

He has been servicing, selling and appraising machine tools for the past 35 years.

Mr. Tournas founded Red Stripe Inc. in 1994 to buy, sell, service and value machinery and tangible assets.

He joined DoveBid Valuation Services, Inc. (DVS) in 2001 as a Senior Associate Appraiser, Marblehead, MA, responsible for machinery appraisals throughout North America and Mexico.

With the breakup of DoveBid from AcuVal in 2003, Mr. Tournas returned to Red Stripe Inc. to continue his machinery & equipment appraisal practice.

Mr. Tournas is a multidiscipline appraiser who offers a wide breadth of expertise across a broad range of industries. He has directed and completed large scale appraisal projects involving multiple locations.

He has completed appraisals throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

Association of Machinery and Equipment Appraisers (AMEA) – CEA designation (Certified Equipment Appraiser)
New England Business Brokers Association (NEBBA) – Member and featured speaker at seminars
Certified Machine Tool Sales Engineer - Founding member
National Association of Professional Appraisers – SPA designation (Senior Professional Appraiser)

In addition, Mr. Tournas has completed the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course of instruction, as well as advanced courses and seminars offered by the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA).

Mr. Tournas has provided expert testimony in the civil court system and is qualified as an expert witness.
